To Art or Not to Art

Here marks my second post of the year, and what a start it has been - already a week in...and my first art project is drawing to a close. At times like this it's sometimes hard to realise the fine line between quantity and quality.

Often, especially during the holidays, I ask myself whether I'm actually doing enough, whether I'm using my time effectively, but know this - true great artwork will only be created out of love and passion. Even if it be a rough 5 minute sketch or a few hours put the same effort and quality into your work throughout.

Like many, I often get down in the dumps, doubting my art and my capabilities but remember, art is subjective! To me, art is something that asks a burning question or ignites an inquisitive flame, when I like a piece of art it is because it makes me look twice, it makes me want to read deeper into it and relish in its complex and sometimes utterly simplistic nature- this can happen with any piece of art be it good or bad.

So that is why I encourage everyone to take their surroundings and decorate them gloriously, make them saturated in art and anything to everything you like. Submerging yourself in a room plastered with watercolours and bold dashes of paint will help inspire you and keep the artistic creative mood going.

The truest injustice an artist can do is to stop working, painting, creating, thinking and feeling.

Hello.

A new year, a new blog. 

Happy New Year 2017 :)

More specifically a supposedly 'better' blog *crosses fingers*, alas my blog experiences have been brief to non-existent with mild waves of procrastination stopping me from nourishing it properly. Though, dear reader I will try my best to stop the errors of my ways. And with that weak rambling apology I welcome you to my blog, theeyesofchinablue ☺- a reference to one of my favourite songs about a rather extraordinary person.

Facts about me:

I'm Chloe, 17, from the UK, currently in my second last year at secondary school, so, Lower Sixth (Year 12) and I'm taking Art, Biology, Chemistry and Maths at the moment although I have to make my choices for A2 so the future is looking bleak for my poor maths, I'm a vintage enthusiast and an avid vinyl collector, terrible hoarder with way too many things for one tiny (5ft 4.5 yes the .5 is important) girl to have and a lover of animals. My music taste is a rollercoaster, I have an affinity for the works of John Lennon, and Billy Joel. My favourite colours are earthy warm tones like burnt umber and yellow ochre and, what else? oh I like to read as well, & I'm currently reading The Help by Kathryn Stockett.

I plan to write about, though not limited to, art; focusing on my experiences doing a-level art, my inspirations,occasional analysis and all things in between. And with that, I hope you enjoy it.
